We
will make every effort to get your bird to you as soon as possible. However,
we will in no way ship a bird if it jeopardizes the health of the bird.
Guidelines for shipping birds, et al, are below. DM Birds does not sell unweaned babies ever. Before any chick is shipped they must be able to sustain themselves on seed, pellet, fresh foods and water alone. We do not believe in forcing the weaning period. All chicks are abundance weaned. All birds are shipped with seed and fleshy fruits and a foot toy or two of their choice so they dont get too bored. No bird will be shipped until full payment is received. Personal checks may delay shipping until they clear. No bird is shipped until we receive an original signed contract back from the buyer. All chicks must pass a health check before shipping. We highly recommend that your bird be seen by an Avian Vet within 72 hours, not only for their health, but mainly because we believe the best time to have an Avian Vet is before you need one. DM Birds does not ship birds when the temperature is less then 45° and in some cases less then 50° or more than 85° at any point in shipping. During winter and summer months this may significantly increase ship time. Birds are shipped whenever
possible using Delta Pets First in a temperature controled and pressurized
hold. Delta's hubs are Atlanta, Cincinnati, Salt Lake City and Houston.
These cities temperature and weather must also be factored in shipping. Whenever possible Birds are shipped on Saturdays. Birds are shipped in airline approved carriers only. In most cases birds are fully flight capable therefore we do not advise opening the crate in uncontrolled conditions, like say.... in Delta's Cargo Area. All carriers are zip tied close. A copy of their baby book will be emailed to you before shipping. Please take time to read it. Not only will it help your new family member to relax when you get them home it contains valuable information vital to the health of your bird. While we understand that you anxious to get your new feathered family member, we've been there too, again, we will in no way ship a bird if it is not in the best physical and/or mental interest of the bird.
